# Automatic fulfillment for membership renewal orders

When Shopify successfully charges a recurring monthly or annual membership, Memberply automatically marks the membership item in the renewal order as fulfilled.

Memberply fulfills only the membership product. If an order also contains a physical product, Memberply leaves that product unfulfilled so it can continue through your normal shipping process.

Memberply does not send the customer a shipping notification when it fulfills a membership renewal.

## Approve the Shopify fulfillment permission

Memberply needs permission to manage merchant-managed fulfillment orders. An existing merchant may be asked to approve Memberply's updated Shopify permissions before automatic renewal fulfillment can begin.

If Shopify asks you to approve updated permissions, follow the prompt when you open Memberply in Shopify admin.

## Which orders are included?

Automatic fulfillment applies to renewal orders that Shopify creates after a successful recurring membership charge. The customer's initial checkout order continues to follow your store's normal fulfillment settings.

Memberply does not fulfill renewal orders when the payment fails. If Shopify places an order or fulfillment on hold, Shopify must make it available for fulfillment before it can be fulfilled.

## If a renewal still appears unfulfilled

1. Open Memberply in Shopify admin and approve any updated permission request.
2. Confirm that the renewal payment succeeded.
3. Check whether Shopify placed the order or fulfillment on hold.
4. Confirm that the order line is still linked to the Memberply membership product.
